Mission Statement

Our mission is to promote excellence in teaching, research, creative activities, and community service by faculty, research scientists, students, and staff. We provide an environment for intellectual curiosity by engaging students in innovative and collaborative experience-based interdisciplinary learning. The critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills our students develop not only serve as a foundation for success and lifelong learning but also advance knowledge, respect, and responsibility inherent in global citizenship in a rapidly changing world.

Davie/Fort Lauderdale Campus

The NSU Halmos College of Arts and Sciences offers specialized learning across three Fort Lauderdale/Davie Campus locations. Biological Sciences students research in the Parker Building and at our Oceanographic Campus. The Mailman-Hollywood Building fosters collaboration for Conflict Resolution Studies, Humanities and Politics, and Communication, Media, and the Arts. The Don Taft University Center features a dedicated wing with extensive facilities for performing and visual arts students.

What Beats a School by the Ocean? A School in the Ocean

The Oceanographic Campus is a dedicated 10-acre research hub for the Department of Marine and Environmental Sciences. Its state-of-the-art NSU Guy Harvey Oceanographic Research Center provides environmentally friendly, LEED-certified facilities for multidisciplinary coral reef research across five key thematic areas. Equipped with advanced laboratories and resources, the campus offers students and faculty opportunities for cutting-edge research in marine science.
